Social prescribing training and consultancy
Through our DHSC funding we offer free advice and guidance to Primary Care Networks and Integrated Care Boards, to support and guide you with areas such as, recruitment, evidence and impact.
We also offer costed training and consultancy to undertake evaluation or specialist support requiring more intense work and a set of training packages for Social Prescribing Link Workers.

Workforce Development Framework: Social Prescribing Link Workers
The purpose of the social prescribing link worker (SPLW) workforce development framework is to:
- Provide clear and consistent standards for SPLW practice, including their knowledge, skills and behaviours
- Provide guidance on the support, supervision, and learning and development offer required from employers to support SPLWs
- Promote the development of a strong and capable workforce of SPLWs and their future development
- Support improved quality and consistency of social prescribing and reduced variation in outcome and access standards.
- Demonstrate the benefits of SPLWs working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Social Prescribing: Reference Guide and Technical Annex for PCNs
This guide has been created to support primary care network (PCN) employers of social prescribing link workers.
This includes practice managers, GP supervisors, other clinical supervisors and social prescribing link workers. Other staff groups may also find this guide helpful, including commissioners and local system partners, voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, public health colleagues, people with lived experience and patient groups.
