We are delighted to share that Hamaad Khan has been named as a rising star in HSJ's list of the most influential Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people in health.
Hamaad is a graduate medical student, who currently works as our International Development Associate. He authored NASP's Social Prescribing Around the World report in collaboration with the World Health Organization, based on the work of the International Social Prescribing Collaborative in 31 countries.
Hamaad has been instrumental in the International Collaborative and in the Social Prescribing Student Champions programme, and has delivered inspirational speeches about community-centred care at our events and conferences.
In 2022, Hamaad was the youngest awardee for the Hillary International Award for Health & Care Leadership in recognition of his advocacy in tackling overprescribing with medical education. In 2023, he became a Patient Revolution Fellow and won the Royal Society of Medicine’s Doubleday Prize for his essay on patient-centred care.
As well as working with NASP, Hamaad co-founded Rethinking Health, a national campaign mobilising the future health workforce to provide better care for all. He hosts Medicine Unheard, a podcast with perspectives from patients and physicians on their stories and experiences of health care. He is also a researcher for Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC).
