The government has published England’s first ever Men’s Health Strategy, which aims to tackle men’s mental health challenges, improve physical health and reduce inequalities so men and boys can live longer, healthier lives.
Charlotte Osborn-Forde, NASP's Chief Executive, said:
“We welcome the strategy’s commitment of £3 million to community-based men’s health programmes, designed to reach those most at risk and least likely to engage with traditional health services. Social prescribing can play a vital role in connecting men with these initiatives.
We are also pleased to see the recognition of our partners - including Movember’s Ahead of the Game programme, alongside support for Rugby League Cares to reach boys and young men at risk of loneliness.
The strategy represents a positive step forward in prioritising prevention and in joining the dots between the health system and the amazing work of sports trusts, charities and grassroots projects.”
