The IPPR’s cross-party Commission on Health and Prosperity – chaired by Lord Ara Darzi and Professor Dame Sally Davies, former Chief Medical Officer for England - has concluded its three-year Commission into the nation’s health, publishing its report today.
The report highlights the “increasingly strong evidence base to support bringing a broader array of interventions into community and primary healthcare settings, ranging from social prescriptions to diagnostic equipment.”
We are delighted to see strong recognition of the important role of social prescribing in the report, with references to a need to expand the workforce and the key role it should play as part of the NHS’s commitment to health creation and prevention.
We support the vision for neighbourhood health centres which include social prescribing alongside primary care, mental health services and public health.
