I’m Phil McGrath, Centre Manager at the Cornerstone in Lancaster – a fullness of life hub and Social Action Centre with an emphasis on community wellbeing and mental health.
I’ve extensive experience in Community Development/ engagement with a particular emphasis on the VCFS. I’m a Qualified Youth and Community worker and have worked predominantly with under-represented and marginalised groups, particularly where communities are experiencing inequality, poverty and have reduced life expectancies.
I have trained Community Organisers and have experience of a range of organising models from grassroots organising, speaking truth to power, Asset Based Community Development and Organisational leadership.
I’m also a keen runner and am involved in Community Radio.

Hi I’m Jane and I work at for Right2Work at The Appleby Hub running craft workshops – it’s a community hub with studios to let and hire by the hour, second hand book shop, seed & jigsaw swap, craft shop, workshop venue and cafe. I’m keen to establish links and become involved with social prescribing as I see how craft, exercise and interaction are so beneficial to our mental wellbeing.

I have been trying to keep up with SP developments over many years especially to ensure that gardening and farming (and nature) receives at least equal merit to more ‘recognised’ forms of SP, and for policy makers and commissioners to understand that voluntary sector organisations need resourcing to deliver high quality SP; referrals need paid support! I set up the Green Care Coalition and have been involved in community gardening and farming at a UK level for 35+ years and helped establish Care Farming UK before it merged with FCFCG to form Social Farms & Gardens.

Hi I am Esther Watts, Regional Lead for the South East. Thanks for getting in touch.
I have Natural England contacts in the South East and we are going to be discussing Green Social Prescribing regularly with my contacts. Shall I add your name to my list of people to let know when this subject is coming up?
Or are you in another area of the country and would you prefer to be in touch with your local Regional Lead?
      Best wishes,

      Esther Watts
