We are delighted to welcome a new committee of 23 students to the National Social Prescribing Student Champions Scheme.  The Scheme was set up by medical students in 2016. Since then, more than 350 Champions have engaged with over 20,000 medical students, allied healthcare professionals, young doctors and trainees, spreading the word about social prescribing and helping to ensure that it is part of the curricula at universities across the UK.  We have supported the scheme since our formation as a charity, alongside NHS England and Improvement, the Social Prescribing Network and the College of Medicine.  We offer bursaries to 23 [...]

NHS reform vision focuses on personalised care

Sajid Javid, the Health and Social Care Secretary, has set out his vision for long-term NHS reform, including an expansion of personalised care. NASP responds to Elective Care Recovery Plan

The NHS and government have set out their Elective Care Recovery Plan to address backlogs built up during the COVID pandemic and tackle long waits for care. The Delivery plan for tackling the COVID-19 backlog of elective care is also intended to give patients greater control over their own health and offer greater choice of where to get care if they are waiting too long for treatment.
